Three players from Vadodara—Aryan Thakor, Geet Roy, and Kavya Jadeja—are part of the Indian team and among the group of 30 elite players participating in the prestigious WAKO Youth World Kickboxing Championship in Budapest, Hungary. The championship will be held from August 23 to September 1, 2024. The three players will attend a 10-day training camp with the Indian team in Digha, West Bengal, to sharpen their kickboxing skills before the all-important competition, where they will face tough opponents from participating countries.
Aryan Thakor is an accomplished kickboxer with a remarkable career record of 55 medals. Last year, he represented India at the Uzbekistan Open 2024 and won one silver and one bronze medal, making India proud. Recently, he won two gold medals at the WAKO India National Kickboxing Championship 2024, held in Pune in May, and has qualified for the World Championship. Aryan will be competing in the Younger Cadet Boys’ categories: -32kg Point Fight and -32kg Light Contact.
Geet Roy, the youngest female player from Gujarat and on the Indian team, has already made a significant impact on her kickboxing journey. With a total of six medals to her name, Geet secured a gold medal at the WAKO India National Kickboxing Championship 2024 in Pune in her first national competition. She will represent India in the Children Girls’ -24kg Point Fight category.

Kavya Jadeja has an impressive record of 19 medals in her kickboxing career. Her outstanding performance at the WAKO India National Kickboxing Championship 2024, where she won the gold medal in the Older Cadets Girls +65kg category, earned her a spot in the World Championship. Kavya will compete in the Older Cadet Female categories: +65kg Point Fight and +65kg Light Contact.
“The team will be attending a 10-day national camp under the expert guidance of international coaches, which will help improve their fighting skills. Our competition will be against players from Kyrgyzstan, Italy, Hungary, and Ireland. Fitness and skill are key, and the players have to strictly follow the finer details to stay competitive,” said Siddharth Bhaleghare, National Coach of the Indian Kickboxing team.
