Padmashri 73 year old Professor Kiran Seth, who founded the very popular SPICMACAY in 1977 is planning to cycle from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to celebrate 75th year of Indian Independence and also pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi on October 2. As a curtain raiser he cycled around 1000 kilometers from Delhi to Vadodara spreading tbe message of good health and aware youth about simple living and be happy.

He started cycling from Rajghat, Delhi on 11th March and reached Ahmedabad on 14th April covering Alwar, Jaipur. Bhilwara, Udaipur and culminating at Sabarmati Ashram. The fitness enthusiast reached Vadodara on Friday and interact with educationists of the city at Vidyani Vidyalaya.

“Everybody loves cycling and hence i use this sport to spread my message to every youth. I reached Vadodara covering many cities and will go back Delhi via Anand, Vadodara, Halol, Godhra in Gujarat and then through Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. On the way i address students and faculty at various schools and colleges spreading the message of cycling as the healthy and environment friendly travelling alternative, but also as a way of being by oneself. The another objective of this tour are to celebrate our glorious composite Heritage, to increase awareness about SPIC MACAY and enlist many new volunteers,” said Seth.

Asked about cycling during the hot summer season, he said, “I make sure to cycle only in the morning. I get up at 3.30 am when I have to cycle and then I cover about 50 kms in four hours, from 6 am to 10 am. I drink lots of water and nimbu paani to stay hydrated.”
