Chhatra Sansad, an initiative by Zero Hour Foundation, hosted the monumental 5th Gujarat Chhatra Sansad presented by Parul University on 24th of April in Vadodara, Gujarat. More than 15,000 participants from all over the country attended the event to celebrate India’s 75 years of democracy. Spearheaded by Adv. Kunal Sharma, Founder-President of Chhatra Sansad, and held at the palatial grounds of Parul University, this Conclave hosted a diverse panel of speakers who addressed the gathering on the 75 years of Indian Democracy in order to make India a leading nation and realize the potential of the youth to become an element of change.

The 5th Gujarat Chhatra Sansad was a forum to reflect on the 75 years of Indian Democracy and discuss the direction of progress from here. The aim was to gather thousands of thoughtful, like minded people from across the country to participate, converse and find solutions to the problems and pitfalls of Modern Democracy. It was the first time Vadodara hosted multiple dignitaries at one place making the conclave a historic event. Apart from the Guests and youth participants, we also hosted major figures from the various emerging markets of today including entrepreneurs, business leaders, law makers, young leaders, scientists, and other notable innovators.

The event was divided into segments which was commenced by the inauguration ceremony by our notable guests Kailash Vijayvargiya and Anand Narasimhan followed by their thought provoking and stimulating speeches. This was followed by addresses from Adv. Kunal Sharma and Dr. Devanshu Patel, President of the prestigious Parul University.

The segments of the conclave began with a powerful address from Rajan Gogoi, followed by a Zero Hour Session with him.

Panel 1 session was address by Kiran Bedi, followed by a Panel discussion where Uday Mahurkar, Prakash Belawadi and Dr. Kiran Bedi talked about the Past of Indian Democracy, having the main discussion centered around overcoming colonial mindset, finding a place as a new democracy and developing as a powerful nation.

The next session was graced by one of the most anticipated guests for this event Maa Anand Sheela and Shakun Batra who gave powerful, inspiring ideas and perspectives focused on India’s present governance and system, how they can transgress into a more efficient system for all and the ideal average age of political representatives in India.

Moving on to the last segment, young and high spirited leaders Charu Pragya and Anil Shetty with Maulana Kalbe Rushaid Rizvi lead the discussion about the future of India. Involving the youth audience, all three of them shared their areas of expertise about how youth of India can be catalysts and lead India in technological and political fronts in the next upcoming decade.

An innovative element of the 5th Gujarat Chhatra Sansad was “Kaun Banega Changemaker”, where the audience put forth their views on certain national issues via an audience poll. At the end of each panel discussion the following resolutions were passed with collective efforts of all the Keynote Speakers, audience and participants:

  1. How India can solve the problem of literacy as the nation has the youngest population.
  2. Average age of politicians.
  3. How Cryptocurrency will change the investment options of India.

This process facilitated in formulating resolutions which we feel will help lay
down the foundation and efforts required to implement the changes that have been
discussed in the three sessions of the Conclave. These Resolutions are compiled into a ‘Declaration of the Conclave’ and is today being submitted to the relevant Policy
Making bodies of the Central and State Governments. These resolutions will also be
submitted to the United Nations and UNESCO for the cognisance. Furthermore, participants from Gujarat and Vadodara will be taking part in executing this declaration throughout different cities, coordinating with Chhatra Sansad forming teams and working with leaders from different cities.

The event concluded with grandeur and ended on an elemental and satisfactory note with the young, enthusiastic changemakers inspired to take our nation to even greater heights.
