support of the Aditya Birla Capital is
organizing a Fast Bowler Talent Hunt
namely ‘In Quest of Speed’ as a part of a ‘From Streetlights to Floodlights’ project. Renowned talent of Baroda
Cricket — Former Indian Pace Bowler Munaf Patel would be the Scout and Mentor for the programme.
The initiative embarks upon identifying and mentoring the Fast Bowlers from the unexplored regions of Baroda District Jurisdiction like Amreli, Kodinar, Karjan, Jambusar, Petlad, Sankheda, Bodeli, Mesrad & some more surrounding areas. This exploration process is an effort to search for few skilled or raw fast bowlers and train them to become an asset to the game of cricket. The age limit is 16 to 21 years but they bowlers above age limit are also welcome who has the speed.
The selected players would be trained by Munaf in a One Month Camp whereby they would enhance their talent. The comprehensive camp would cover the required parameters of the bowling style like skill, speed, strength, technique, etc. The Camp will help the players to progressively develop an expertise of Pace Bowling advancing towards the objective — ‘Growing up to the Game’.
“Its a fast bowling quest and we want to search the speedster specially from rural areas and help our team to get good fast bowler which can goes on to represent in grand stage like IPL and other tournaments. We conduct camps at selected areas and identify the talents and later train them in our Baroda Cricket Academy and later make them play league matches and available for probables. Most important thing is the training is free of cost and we are in quest to give genuine speed bowler who can bowl 140 plus,” said Munaf Patel.
Munaf further added that he is from rural and reached this stage in his career. He knows the talents in the areas, so its easy for him to recognise the talent and he is hopeful to give fast bowlers to the association with this talent hunt. He also praise talent of Umran Malik currently playing IPL and hopeful to give two or three such bowlers before the Ranji season.
Baroda Qualifies for BCCI Senior Women’s T-20 Knockouts
Baroda Women’s Team has qualified for the Knockout matches of BCCI Senior Women’s T-20. The quarterfinals shall be played at Surat on 29th April 2022 against Mumbai.
Team Baroda won 4 out of 5 matches in the league stage held at Mohali and became Group Champions of Elite D.
Baroda lost their first match to Uttarakhand and won four matches in a trot to reach the knockout stage. They beat Vidarbha by 37 runs, Uttar Pradesh by 6 wickets, Gujarat by 20 runs and Goa by 10 in the league stage to became top in the group. BCA women shall play Mumbai Women on 29th April at Surat.
“After the loss to Uttarakhand we need to play good cricket as all the matches are important for us. We are a team having good players and need to play well and win the remaining matches and keep the standard high. Keeping this in mind we play and won our all the four matches. Now we have to play against the strong Mumbai team and the match is important for us. We need to do good in our fielding like we did in our league matches and play with unity,” said Radha Yadav, captain Baroda Women’s Team.
